Ghanaian policy making process has not yielded the needed outcomes after several years of independence.

Ghana’s infrastructural development needs to take a different approach. Government recently complained about the deplorable nature of our infrastructure. We seem to think there is no value for money for most of the projects government undertakes. The quality of our infrastructure has not improved compared with other jurisdictions where clear cut models and institutional frameworks have been specifically developed for delivering critical national infrastructure.

It’s established that, to know the outcomes of every decision you have to know the approach the particular leader used in arriving at that decision. Traditionally, two approaches are used to arrive at a decision. The "first principle basis “and the "analogy basis". First principle emphasizes on the root cause. It breaks the situation to the fundamental cause and starts to build from that. This method to decision making is what most great leaders have deployed. Aristotle and Plato as well as Jesus can be considered the chief proponents of this approach to understanding the human reality.

The NDC lost the 2016 elections on the back of a great number of " Might have beens" of recent history. After their settled culture of campaigning failed them, a report by one of its leading lights pointed to the lack of policy geeks in the party who could have painted issues of the elections in a much more brighter and categorical manner.

There is a growing distrust and antagonism between social actors in the policy making field in Ghana. Public policy making which is supposed to be a tripartite process involving citizens, government and civil society organizations all acting within the framework of a social compact is gradually becoming one in which the whims, caprices and machiavellian dispositions of politicians take precedence.

The Ghanaian political elite and the polity in general over the years have all complained about our “SYSTEM". We attribute every malfeasance in the body politic to the “system". We attribute payroll fraud to the “system".

Ghanaians all over the country are losing hope and faith in our security agencies. The growing levels of crime and mob justice is a testament to this decaying sense of affinity to the institutions of state that are supposed to protect our liberties. The national security landscape in Ghana looks very mundane, antiquated and rather very docile.
