Action in the GN Bank sponsored Division One football League returned this past weekend with penultimate matches devoid of the usual fanfare.
The return follows the suspension of all games in Zone One in late August on the heels of an injunction filed by interested parties against the Ghana Football Association that restrained the continuation and playing of matches in the zone.

Ahead of the restart of hostilities in Zone one, Techiman Eleven Wonders won two significant appeals before the GFA Appeals Committee; one against W. NEA Salamina, and the other against Techiman City.
The net result of the two rulings earned them 6points that vaulted them to the top of the Zone one log on 54points, with W. NEA Salamina in second with 52points from 27 matches, and Techiman City and B.A United holding the third and fourth positions with 51 and 50 points respectively, all ahead of the restart or Week 29.
Consequently, with two matches to the end of the season and a total of 54points, all Eleven Wonders had to do was win one of their remaining two matches to wrap up the division honors and the sole ticket to the Premiership division. And win big they did, as they whitewashed visiting Berekum Arsenals by six goals to nothing to pick up the title for Zone One.
Needing a win in their last match of the season at home against Techiman City, and some serious help from the Division One League soccer gods - as they needed Eleven Wonders to lose their remaining two matches for them (Salamina) to have a chance at winning – W. NEA Salamina won by two goals to one but the much needed intervention from the soccer gods did not materialize.
Thus, they will end the season in the runner-up spot, and barring any last minute rulings or surprises from the FA Appeals Committee, Eleven Wonders are for now the unofficial winners of Zone One.
In other matches played over the weekend, Tamale Utrecht capitulated to a 4-0 home thrashing at the hands of Bofoakwa to continue their exit from the Division One League, and Dark Horses did same with a 1-3 home loss to Kintampo FC.
Elsewhere, B. A United played to a 1-1 tie at home with Steadfast, Guan FC picked up a 2-1 win at home over Unity FC, and Glory Stars dispatched visiting RTU by two goals to one.
GN BANK DIVISION ONE – ZONE ONE – WEEK 29 SCORE AT A GLANCE
Dark Horses 1-3 Kintampo FC
W. NEA Salamina 2-1 Techiman City
B. A. United 1-1 Steadfast
Eleven Wonders 6-0 Berekum Arsenals
Guan FC 2-1 Unity FC
Glory Stars 2-1 RTU
Tamale Utrecht 0-4 Bofoakwa
For W. NEA Salamina who came in as runner-ups last year under the name Wamanafo Mighty Royals FC, the failure to qualify for tier-one soccer marks another disappointing season.
If all goes well, Eleven Wonders will join Karela FC and Dreams FC who qualified earlier from Zone two and three in that order.
