The GN Bank Division One League continued this weekend with a mixed bag of results as several of the favorites, Gt. Olympics, Heart of Lions, and New Edubiase FC struggled to get into a winning rhythm, while several others, Hasaacas, Tema Youth, and Unity FC grabbed notable victories.

In Zone one, Bofoakwa Tano were one of the big winners as they earned a crucial point on the road in their match with newly promoted side Tamale City following a six-goal fest. Having held NEA Salamina to a 2-2 tie on the road last week, the unbeaten newbies have so far proven that they can hang in with the established teams in the zone. Bofoakwa have the top spot on 3points. Young Apostles remained in the unbeaten column with a 2-0 home win over a lackluster Paga Crocodile side that is yet to find its bite to move up to the second spot. And Unity FC handed Wa Suntaa FC their second straight loss of the season in the latter’s home opener to move up third on four points. Unity won by a lone goal.

B. A. United got into the win column for the first time this season with a hard fought lone goal win over visiting Tamale Real United at the SCP, Nkoranza Warriors mustered enough power to dispatch visiting Steadfast FC, who looked impressive on opening day by three goals to one, and Kintampo FC recorded their first win of the season with a lone goal win over Glory Stars at home.

The result of the match between B. Arsenals and Salamina, Gbewaa FC and Techiman City was not available at the time of this write up.

Zone two favorites, Gold Stars, lived up to the tag with their second straight win of the season, a lone goal win over Pacific Heroes to take over the top spot in the zone with a two-point advantage over second placed FC Samartex, who won their home opener against Unistar Academy by two goals to nothing. Not to be outdone in the victory column, Sekondi Hasaacas, who took a point in their first match of the season on the road against King Faisal took the full spoils in their home opener against Achiken with a 2-0 win.

Former tier-one side, New Edubiase, secured an important point on the road following a goalless tie with Star Madrid FC, Skyy FC failed to build on their opening day win, but they secured a point in their road match against BYFA to remain undefeated, and Swedru All Blacks built on their opening day one-all tie at Proud United with a 2-1 win over King Faisal.

Elsewhere, Venomous Vipers continued their uninspiring return to the DOL with another turgid performance that saw them lose by two goals to nothing at Nzema Kotoko. The loss, their second straight left them in the bottom of the cellar. The result of the match between Asokwa Deportivo and Proud United FC was not available at the time of this write up.

Following their impressive 3-1 winning start to the season, a seemingly formidable Vision FC capitulated to a stunning lone goal loss at home to Uncle ‘T’ United this past Saturday, in a match that was indeed theirs to lose. The loss saw them fall out of the top four ranks, while Uncle ‘T’ United, who were winners last weekend took over the summit on 6points, 2points better than their closest contestants. Following their slow start to the season – a goalless tie with Amidaus Profs at home in Week 01, Tema Youth rebounded beautifully on the road with a 2-0 win over Agbozume Weavers, a side many thought will be very competitive after they held Gt. Olympics to a 1-1 tie in Accra. Tema Youth moved up second on 4points with the win. And Danbort FC moved up third on the heels of a 2-1 win over Okyeman Planners at home.

Heart of Lions followed up last week’s 1-0 win over Accra Lions with an impressive 1-1 tie with Amidaus Profs at Tema for the fourth spot. Accra Gt. Olympics maintained their slow start to the season with another tie, this time a goalless one against Mighty Jets. The tie saw them drop to the 10th spot on 2points. And Sporting Mirren rebounded with a surprising lone goal win over Accra Lions away from home.

Elsewhere, Young Wise handed Kotoku Royals a lone goal defeat, Akosombo Krystal Palace divvied the spoils at home with Nania FC.
