The GN Bank Division One League will continue this midweek with the pace a tad slow and tight in zone one, where heavyweights like Salamina, B. A. United, and Bofoakwa have yet to make any noticeable impact. In zone two, perennial contenders, Gold Stars, have already set the pace with two straight wins, while in zone three, preseason contenders like Gt. Olympics, Heart of Lions, Vision FC, and Tema Youth are yet to hit the field at full speed.

And things might get a bit tight this midweek for the one win and one loss B.A. United, as they take on Glory Stars in one of the topmost encounters of the midweek in zone one. Glory Stars trounced Wa Suntaa FC by four goals to nothing at home in week one, but they will have to beat some of the credible teams at home for fans to have a good idea of what they can do in their backyard. To keep their title aspirations alive this early in the season, B. A. United will have to find a way to pick up a crucial point at worst. The other top encounter will be between undefeated Bofoakwa and Berekum Arsenals, with the former having the advantage by virtue of playing at home, where they opened up with a 3-0 thrashing of unsung Gbewaa FC. Hard to see Bofoakwa splitting or given up all 3points at home in this encounter. And Salamina, who disappointed in their first home of the season with a 2-2 tie with Tamale FC, will more than likely have a field day with Paga Crocodiles, who are still feeling their way around.

Real Tamale United will be at home to Nkoranza Warriors, who will surely need some fortitude in this matchup, as the latter looks to rebound, Steadfast FC will also go for the rebound at home against Gbewaa FC, and Unity FC will have the chance to build on this past weekend’s lone goal win on the road as they welcome Kintampo FC to their turf.

Elsewhere, it will be Wa Suntaa FC at home to unbeaten Young Apostles, and Tamale City at Techiman City.

Zone two pacesetters, unbeaten Gold Stars, will have the chance to haul in their third straight win as they welcome fellow contenders, New Edubiase, to Bibiani in what is definitely the topmost encounter in the zone this midweek. A win for Gold Stars, who have been on the cusp for a couple of years now will put New Edubiase further behind them. Given their stellar home record and the advantages of playing at home, they are definitely the favorites. It will be up to New Edubiase to stop them. Favorites Sekondi Hasaacas will also be under pressure to win this midweek, as they play as guests of a Unistar Academy side that although not sharp on the road, plays well enough at home to pose problems for their opponents. It will be up to Hasaacas to put their best foot forward or be stunned. And second placed FC Samartex, who are bent on being counted among the stars this season, will likely take liberties with an ailing Venomous Vipers side that is off to what looks like a record bad start, having lost all two matches played so far by a total of 4 goals. Barring any serious resurrection of the club on the heels of the Easter festivities, it looks like FC Samartex’s game to lose.

Off to a decent start, Star Madrid FC with a win, and a tie, will have the chance to test the waters on the road as guests of Nzema Kotoko, who have so far proven solid at home. Pacific Heroes will be on the hunt for the rebound as guests of Skyy FC who remain undefeated after two outings, and Proud United will have the chance for their first home win of the season as they welcome BYFA who are yet to score a goal after two games to their turf in a very winnable game.

Elsewhere in midweek action, struggling King Faisal will work hard on ending their winless start to the season (1 loss, 1 draw), as they play host to Asokwa Deportivo, and Achiken FC will have the chance to put a dent in Swedru All Blacks unbeaten start.

It’s still early in the season, however, falling behind in the wilderness of the Division One League is a surefire way of playing catchup… and things have definitely not gone as well as expected for the now winless Gt. Olympics who many expected to breeze through the competition. But they will have the chance to start afresh this midweek as they host a Danbort FC side that has won one, and tied one for 4points, and are 2points better than their hosts. The pressure is definitely on the Dade Boys to win, as they look to ease some of the pressure off. With four points from a win and a tie, Heart of Lions are in the mix, they will have the chance to improve in the goals category, where they have just two so far, as they welcome their regional neighbors, Agbozume Weavers to their side of the town. Having followed a brilliant one-all tie with Gt. Olympics with a fairly stunning 0-2 loss to Tema Youth at home, it’s hard to put a handle on the Weaver’s game. They will definitely give the Lions some problems, but the latter should be able to exploit them for the full spoils and a significant number of goals to boot. And Uncle ‘T’ FC can definitely grab the maximum points at home against A. Krystal Palace who have so far played it safe with two ties in two DOL outings.

Tema Youth, who started off the season with a shaky 0-0 outcome at home with Amidaus Profs, and followed that up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Agbozume Weavers on the road, will have the chance to boost their contendership status with a win over Mighty Jets at home. The Jets are still in discovery mode having lost one and tied one thus far. Okyeman Planners will go for the rebound at home against an uninspiring Kotoku Royals side, and Vision FC who disappointed heavily at home this weekend following a stunning lone goal loss to Uncle ‘T’ FC will have the chance to bounce back, as they host an adept Young Wise side. Given their pedigree and home advantage, Vision FC are the favorites.

Elsewhere, it will be winless Nania FC at home to Accra Lions, and Amidaus Profs on the hunt for their first win of the season as guests of Sporting Mirren.
