The Sanford Women’s FA Cup competition will transition into the quarter-final stage this weekend with Police Ladies looking to continue their title defense against Army Ladies, and Ampem Darkoa looking to stay on course for the double as hosts of Real Upper Ladies.
Northern Zone leaders - Ampem Darkoa Ladies – who remain undefeated in all competitions this season, will continue their quest for the double as hosts of NWL Northern Zone bottommost side - Real Upper Ladies - in what looks like a very easy win for the former. Ampem Darkoa overcame Lepo Ladies by two goals to nothing to reach the quarter-finals stage, whilst their guests for today’s match moved on at the expense of Ashtown Ladies. Given Ampem Darkoa’s current form, especially at home and the current poor form of their opponents, who remain winless in the NWL after 10 matches, it looks like another easy win for the hosts.
NWL mid-tablers - Prisons Ladies - who have upped their game in the NWL following a poor start to the season, and has since played to four wins and two ties will continue their quest for their first major trophy of the season, as hosts of lower tier side - Nana Afia Kobi Ampem Ladies. Nana Afia Kobi Ampem Ladies moved on to this stage of the tournament following a walkover win over Bolga Sharp Arrows. Prison Ladies on their end overcame Northern Ladies with a 3-1 scoreline. Not much is known about Nana Afia Kobi Ampem Ladies, but given their NWL aspirations, they just might give Prisons Ladies a run for their money and possibly surprise them.
Southern Zone leaders – Immigration Ladies – who have played so well under the radar in the ongoing NWL for an impressive 5wins, 4 ties and a loss will have the chance to continue their brilliant run at home as hosts of a very good Sea Lions side that has failed to live up to expectations lately as the two sides clash for the chance to move on to the next stage. For Immigration Ladies, who are unbeaten at home this season, it looks like another opportunity to defeat their guests for the second time this season on their home turf after handing them a 2-1 loss in the first round. For the Sea Lions, who are riding an unexpected two game losing streak, it will be an opportunity to reassess their play and measure themselves against one of the better teams as they look to get back to winning ways. Immigration Ladies got to this stage with a 2nil win over Samaria Ladies whilst Sea Lions edged Samaria Ladies by a goal’s advantage in a five-goal thriller. Immigration has the advantage at home.
Defending FA Cup Champions – Police Ladies – will be hoping to move on to the next stage of the competition with a win over Army Ladies. Not much is known about the game of Army Ladies who moved on to this stage, courtesy of a lone goal win over Accra Faith Ladies, but for Police Ladies, who are on top of their game and are playing well, it surely looks like a good chance to move on to the next stage of the competition. Police Ladies routed Holy Royals by four goals to nothing to reach the quarter final stage.
