Written By Nana Prof. OseiDarkwa - Africa as a continent continues to be poor and suffers from all the social, economic, and political pathologies that so often accompany poverty. The marks of poverty and its consequences are everywhere, especially in rural Africa, where farms fail to produce enough to feed the farmer and his family, and in the urban slums, where hawkers risk their limbs to sell to speeding motorists. There is urban poverty and rural poverty in Africa, and you cannot be in an African city or a village and escape the marks of that poverty: hunger, illness, illiteracy, and idleness.
