    • Expressing his disgust at the spate of politically motivated violence in Sankore, he indicated that “this cycle of violence taking place in Sankore ends today.”

    President Akufo-Addo says the cycle of politically related acts of violence and vigilantism that occurs in Sankore, in the Asunafo South Constituency of the Ahafo Region, is soon coming to an end.

    • It was submitted by the Attorney General for consideration under a certificate of urgency, but the Minority in Parliament have questioned why it should be urgently.

    A bill to disband vigilantism in Ghana has been laid before Parliament for consideration and approval under a certificate of urgency.

    • According to the NMC's ruling, whereas it finds the presence of the group in the Castle problematic and unacceptable, it did not manifest any violent conduct to be described as a militia or vigilante group.

    The National Media Commission (NMC) has described Multimedia’s documentary, “Militia in the Heart of the Nation” as misleading and a misrepresentation.

    • He said the government had the power and the resources to end political vigilantism regardless of what any political party would say or do.

     The Liberal People’s Party (LPG) has said the ongoing dialogue between the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as part of efforts to ban political vigilantism is not necessary.

    • The bill, laid in Parliament on April 11, 2019, under a certificate of urgency, seeks to disband political party vigilante groups in the country and to proscribe other acts of vigilantism.

    Parliament has passed the Vigilantism and Related Offences Bill, 2019, into law, awaiting Presidential assent to become effective.
