    • The fourteen participating African teams started their journey towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as the first day of the 2019 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens kicked off in Johannesburg, South Africa.

    The first day of Africa Men's Sevens tournament which is sponsored by Société Général has come to an end in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. The tournament is hosted by the South African Rugby Union and organised by Rugby Africa.

    • As at May 2020, World Rugby has 102 member unions and 18 associate member unions

    Rugby Africa is delighted to announce that following a World Rugby Council meeting on 18 November 2020, another two African Rugby Unions join World Rugby. Burkina Faso Rugby Union has become a full member and Cameroon Rugby Union has been re-instated as a full member.

    • The Africa Men’s Sevens will be the second African qualifier on the road to Tokyo after the Women’s Sevens tournament in Tunisia earlier this month where Kenya secured its direct ticket to the Games

    Under the umbrella of Rugby Africa and together with their partner Société Générale, the South Africa Rugby Union hosts the Africa Men’s Sevens on the 8th and 9th November 2019 in the Bosman stadium in Johannesburg.

    • This new partnership is an additional milestone in Société Générale's ongoing commitment to supporting the development and openness of rugby in France and internationally, especially in Africa.

    Société Générale and Rugby Africa have agreed to join forces for the next two years to support the development of rugby in Africa, with a particular emphasis on rugby competitions for women and young athletes.

  • Ghana Rugby concluded two World Rugby "Get Into Rugby" (GIR) Courses held in Accra and Cape Coast Ghana on 20 and 21 November 2019 respectively.

    Mr Herbert Mensah, President and Board Chairman of Ghana Rugby, has been nominated by the Board of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for the position of President of the World Rugby continental body, Rugby Africa.

    • Kenya successfully qualified for the 2020 Olympics as the 2019 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens came to an end on its second day.

    The second day of the 2019 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens which was sponsored by Société Générale has come to an end on Saturday and so did the tournament. The continental competition was hosted by the South African Rugby Union and organised by Rugby Africa.

    The Senegal rugby team fulfilled on Saturday their mission to book a spot in the group stage of the Rugby Africa Cup 2020. In front of a supportive home crowd the lions dominated mercilessly Mauritius 63-0.
