The Accra Metropolitan Area recently undertook a routine clean-up exercise in all six sub-metropolitan areas under its control.
The six sub-metros are Ablekuma Central, Ablekuma South, Ashiedu Keteke, Ayawaso Central, Okaikoi South, and Osu Klottey

The exercise unearthed a huge chunk of stagnated filth within gutters in the surrounding areas that constantly impede the flow of water. Some of the items dredged out of the gutters included plastic bags, cardboard boxes, rotten food items, and cans.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to dispose of trash properly and to keep the gutters clean, as standing water breeds mosquitoes, and also leads to flooding when it rains heavily.
