Former National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kofi Adams, has asserted that the advent of the novel COVID-19 pandemic has caused the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appreciate the importance of health infrastructure.

In an interview on Happy FM's "Efa Wo Ho Ben" programme, the National Democratic Congress' candidate for Buem Constituency disclosed that the President abandoned the health infrastructure started under former President John Dramani Mahama because he didn't see the need to complete them and that if the previous government had not put in place a good health infrastructure, the country would have been badly exposed in the face of the pandemic.

Also, on Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia's comparison of the management of COVOD-19 and "Dumsor", he claimed, the two are incomparable because "Dumsor" did not first occur under John Dramani Mahama and that it also happened under former President, John Agyekum Kufuor.

He said the government of the New Patriotic Party decided to solve the power crisis at the time by buying toy generators that did not even add a kilowatt of power to the national grid and also used the services of pastors to pray for rain to fill the Akosombo dam.

He added that the government cannot even procure and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.

According to him, the management of the pandemic has been politicised by the government, thereby relegating the real COVID-19 issues.

Mr. Adams applauded the government for the stimulus packages given to the citizens and pointed out that people are unemployed and at home with their children; hence, the usage of utilities will spike.

He went on to say that if the stabilization fund had not been put in place by the previous government, it would have been difficult for the current government to have funds to fight the pandemic.

Concluding the interview, he poked fun at the government for being good at slogans and noted that he has not witnessed anything as regards job creation.
