Barring any unexpected pronouncements from the FA Disciplinary Committee, or any other quarters, GN Bank Division One, Zone One side, Dreams FC have, this afternoon, qualified to play in the nation’s elite soccer division come next season following their 3-0 home rout of Okwahu United.

With just three games to the end of the DOL season, Dreams FC started the match day atop the Zone Three log with 67points, 6points better than their closest pursuers – Heart of Lions. They needed just a point or the full 3points from their match against Okwahu United and a loss for Heart of Lions in their match against relegation threatened Young Wise to seal their return to the Premier League division.

Consequently, with Heart of Lions 2-0 loss to Young Wise, and Dreams FC 3-0 win over Okwahu United on Sunday, Dreams FC have clinched the top spot in Zone three as Heart of Lions will not be able to catch up to them, should they win all of their remaining two matches.

The win, the twenty-second for Dreams FC took their total to 70points with just two matches to the end of the season.

The Dawu based side, first joined the Premier League division in 2015 but took a demotion to Division One last season following an unresolved dispute between them and Tema Youth that festered till they finally accepted the ruling of the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association. The ruling sent them back to tier-two soccer and gave their place to Tema Youth.

Their remarkable return to the Premier League marks the first time in Division One League history based on the current new format that a club has succeeded in returning to the top-flight division with a year.

Dreams FC are based in Dawu, and will be the only Premier League team from the Eastern Region. They become the second DOL team to qualify for the next season’s Premier League alongside, Karela FC in Zone Two who qualified several weeks back.
