The National Women’s League will return this weekend with the second half of its fifth season following a two week break with interesting matches scheduled for the various venues.
Northern Zone leaders - Ampem Darkoa - who dropped 2points for the first time this season in their remarkable come from behind 2-2 tie with fierce rivals – Fabulous Ladies - will hope to continue with their blistering form from where they left off as they go for the maximum points with the advantage of playing at home. Ampem Darkoa were perfect at home in the first half of the season, it will be up to the Fabulous Ladies to cause an upset or at worse deny them the full spoils. Three points off the summit - Kumasi Sports Academy - who ended the first round on a bright note will have the chance to complete the double over Lepo Ladies, but they will have to grab the win on the turf of the Lepo Ladies who have survived at home largely by plucking out draws.

Elsewhere on the weekend, Real Upper Ladies who remain winless in the Zone will have to fight extra hard to earn their first win as they welcome Northern Ladies. Incidentally, Northern Ladies earned their first win in the Zone against Real Upper Ladies with a 6-3 scoreline. It will be up to their hosts to return the favor as the two sides clash again. And Prison Ladies whose two straight game winning run within the Zone ended at home with a 2-1 loss to Ashtown Ladies will be on hunt for revenge. They, will however, have to do it on the road.

Ashtown Ladies vs Prison Ladies – Patasi Police Park
Real Upper Ladies vs Northern Ladies – Wa SHS Park
Lepo Ladies vs Kumasi Sports Academy – Batco Park
Things will definitely get livelier in the Southern Zone as the one-time powerhouse in women’s soccer - Hasaacas Ladies - who are now on the downturn square off against the rising Sea Lions who are looking to fill their shoes. The two sides played to a one-all tie at the Bompeh Park to end the first half. With Sea Lions returning the favor at home this time, they definitely have the advantage, it will be up to their guests to avoid a loss which will definitely leave them stuck in the last but one spot. Second placed Immigration Ladies who like the leading Sea Lions also have 14points will have the chance to keep the pace for the summit or perhaps overtake the Sea Lions. Their task for the weekend looks fairly achievable as they welcome the winless Holy Royals, a side they handily defeated on the road by two goals to nothing in the first round.
Elsewhere, Soccer Intellectuals will be hoping to return the favor as they host Lady Strikers at the UEW Ajumako Park. The latter won the first meeting by two goals to one, it now remains to be seen if Soccer Intellectuals who haven’t been particularly great at home can pull off the revenge. And Police Ladies who managed an impressive 2-2 road tie against Samaria Ladies to end the first half of the season will have the chance to kick off the second half on a winning note as they go for the advantage over the Ladies of Samaria at the Teshie MATS Park. Definitely a good opportunity for Police Ladies to hold on to their mid-table spot.
