Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea have signed former Asante Kotoko striker Richard Oti to a three-year deal.
The 21-year-old, who joined Kotoko from Medeama SC in 2014, failed to find a constant spot in the starting lineup largely because of the presence of Ahmed Toure and Dauda Mohammed.
Oti with five other Kotoko players were placed on the team’s transfer list at the end of the season due to lack of playing time and has opted to join Berekum Chelsea after Coach Solomon Odwo promised him ample playing time.
“It is true that Oti has joined us and we are happy because of his experience especially playing at a big club like Kotoko,” a representative of Berekum Chelsea told Goal.com
“We want to sign other players to put the team in shape ahead of the new season. We hope to build on the position we achieved last season and it would surely depend on good signings,” he added.
Oti is expected to be unveiled by his new club next week alongside other players.
He played nine league matches for Kotoko last season, starting only one game and scoring two goals in the process, as the club placed second with 48 points, four below champions AshantiGold.
The ‘Porcupine Warriors’ are looking to regain the League Title they won back-to-back across three seasons and have embarked on an impressive rebuilding exercise.
