GN Bank Division one league – zone one and two - games will come on as scheduled this weekend with a slight twist to the standings in zone one where Mighty Royals’ 1point lead is now being threatened by Bolga All Stars and Bofoakwa Tano, with the latter leapfrogging to the second spot following another FA Disciplinary Committee decision against Berekum Arsenals that awarded them all the spoils from their match day 24 game against B. Arsenals. In zone one, Elmina Sharks with their 6points advantage over the pursuing Karela FC have a good shot at annexing the title and making it to the premier division barring any last minute collapse.
In zone one, Mighty Royals will look to solidify their hold on the top spot with victory at home where they have being impenetrable against the lowly relegation bound candidates Bawku United who have a meagre 15points from 24games. Looks like an assured win for the home side given their guests poor record at home and on the road. Bofoakwa Tano who now find themselves in the second spot, a point adrift of M. Royals have the chance of holding on to it with a road win against the once shining MTN FA Cup semifinalists – Wa Rockets - who now find themselves holding on to the first relegation spot following a couple of losses and a DC ruling against them. Wa Rockets have done fairly well at home despite losing a couple of times there, definitely not going to be a walk in the park game for the Tano lads who have to take their best game with them if they want to capitalize on their recent luck. And impressive Bolga All Stars will definitely come up against stiff opposition at FC Tanga as they seek to hold on to the third spot in a battle that may just prove too much for them given their hosts unbeaten home record and excellent play at home.
Fourth placed Real Tamale United will have the chance of keeping their PL dreams alive - move up to the second spot with a Bofoakwa and Bolga All Stars loss or tie - as they host one spot of the bottom Unity FC in a must win game, and 7th placed B. A. United with a game in hand who are definitely out of the race to the PL division will have the chance to end their recent 3 game skid with a win over Tamale Utrecht.
Elsewhere in the zone, the now 6th placed Berekum Arsenals will look to work their way up the log with a home win over Mpuasuman, Liberty Babies will hope to capitalize on home court to distance themselves further from the relegation cloud as they take on Steadfast FC and Berlin FC will welcome Guan FC to town with victory on their mind.
In zone two, leaders Elmina Sharks will have the chance to maintain their 6points lead over the pursuing Karela FC who handed them their third loss of the season as they welcome Starke FC to their backyard where they’ve being inflexible thus far into the season. With the pressure of playing Karela off their backs and their goal so close, the Sharks should be able to reel in the victory without any problems against their hosts who have the 10th spot but are only 2points off the first safety spot. Karela FC with the first spot seemingly out of reach for now will still play it hard to keep things close ‘for just in case’ as they trek to Ejisu to take on one time bottom dwellers cum relegation candidates King Faisal who have managed to turn their season around but need the win to stay the course of avoiding relegation. A tough match awaits the Karela crew, and third placed Gold Stars will go for the bounce as they welcome Wassaman United to town.
Western Show Boys – Sekondi Eleven Wise – will welcome Dunkwa United to town with victory in mind as they look to end the season on a high note and rid their mouths of last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Samartex. Asokwa Deportivo will be hard pressed in their push for a top four finish as well as victory at Cape Coast as guests of Cape Coast Venomous Vipers who seem to have rediscovered their venom and form following a series of losses that plunged them into the cellar. Vipers will surely like to make it three straight victories in their last 3 outings to keep relegation problems at bay.
Elsewhere, Achiken will take on Tarkwa Utd who have been awful on the road, Nzema Kotoko will welcome Samartex to town with the former looking to overtake the latter and 15th placed Proud Utd will have the chance to wriggle their way up as hosts of Cornerstones.
