Final games in the GN Bank Division One Zone three league came on as scheduled at the various centers with Division winners – Accra Great Olympics – marking the end of a quick return to the Premier League from whence they were relegated last year with a lone home goal victory over Istanbul FC to end the season on 66points, four better than Okyeman Planners and Heart of Lions who came in second and third with 62points apiece. Planners who had an excellent debut to Division One soccer trounced relegated Amidaus Professionals by three goals to one to end their season on a high note, and Heart of Lions who were demoted alongside Gt. Olympics last year will have to wait out another year at least to realize their dream of returning to the PL. They won their last match by a lone goal over visiting Danbort FC.Vision FC realized their quest for a top four finish without much of a problem despite splitting the spoils at home with Pure Joy who overcame the relegation bug, and MTN FA Cup finalists – Okwawu Utd – ended the season in the top half (7th) without winning a game on the field in their last 9 outings as they were held to a 1-1 tie by the visiting Sporting Mirren who ended the season in mid-table.
Elsewhere on the day, Tema Youth punctuated relegated King Solomon’s departure from the Zone with a 2-0 win, Kotoku Royals handed Mighty Jets their third straight loss in as many outings, a 4-0 crushing, and relegated Roberto FC who had themselves a real torrid season failed to bring the smiles to the faces of their fans after playing to 1-1 tie at home with Nania FC, a fairly remarkable feat, given the fact that they did not win a match this half of the season. They won just three matches, tied 7 and lost a whopping twenty.
